can any of you advise on the best travel insurance companies for cover for 12mths or at least 45 day's at a time ( pensioner's)

My annual policy is with Citybond Suretravel through a broker, phone 01234 218111. Or you could try Saga.

We use Liverpool Victoria-up to 60 days approx £120 pa. And yes we are pensioners
Alternatively if you open a Flexicount with Nationwide you get up to 30 days European cover free but I believe you can now upgrade for longer periods

Extended stay travel insurance is very expensive. The trouble is that a great many people dont realise that standard travel insurance doesnt cover you over 30 days.

Beware that with many companies you stop being a 'pensioner' at 74 and they won't provide cover over this age.

Glad to see that the forum sense of humour is alive & well, just recently, things have seemed to be as depressed as the economy. All you need is imagination to brighten things up.

Try Rias they specialise in this; just renewed mine and it was 50% less than last year, when I asked why ? I was told there had been a dramatic reduction in this type of insurance !!!

I just got the AA annual travel insurance in December and it cost £58.80 for myself, my wife and my 6 year old (who has diabetes- which we declared as a pre existing medical condition)
That was one of the best prices we could get at the time.

Check the small print....I think you'll find a limitation in trip duration clause!

Just got a lead from Moneysupermarket.com to a company called ehicplus.com specialising in travel insurance for over 60's.
Haven't tried them just yet as mine isn't due until next month but they look promising.

I recently got travel insurance for my 82 year old mother's trip to Australia. Wasn't impressed with SAGA's website nor their call centre. Having quoted approx £300 for month's cover (High blood pressure, high colestrole and artery stent included) online, I called SAGA as forgot about the arthritis in her hands and couldn't amend web quote despite going thro the procedure!! With additional condition (arthritis) quote increased to over £700 for the 30 days!
Ended up going thro Comparethemarket website and got cover at approx £350.
But then again an insurance company is only good when it comes to paying out for a claim!
