Went to Centeanne this morning and the tide was in way further than it usually is and we were stopped by life guard saying if we did attempt to go to the beach we could well be stuck there til 7pm. Due to the wind the last week or so there is a lack of sand meaning the tide is coming in further than normal apparently. Shame as they had a sign up saying today's water temp was 23 degrees.

Canieros was like that on Saturday, there was only one row of sunbeds to be had and they kept moving them back so eventually they were under the restaurant!
think its a bit better now.

we noticed that there was a lot of sand 'gone' in Centiannes in late April. The tides were high then too.

My parents went there yesterday and the luxury beds weren't out at all and to get in the sea you had to scramble down a sand cliff face almost but at least you could get on that beach. Any one know how long it takes for this to correct itself?

My family are out there at moment and report a bad cliff fall at Centiennes beach that has taken out the area where the tables were and more so certainly not so much beach. Who has seen this?

Now I think about it as we went down the wooded bit to walk to the beach there were a load of rocks at the end of it which I thought was strange. Tho this is separate to the sand issue caused by the winds last week.

The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away.I think the same happened at Benigil a couple of years back. It returned within about a fortnight. But I may be wrong on location, can't find the thread.

it certainly happens quite often at Albandeira beach, but mainly during March high tides and full moon etc, no sand at all then within a couple of days it comes back !!!.

Have you looked on the In and Out roads? A few years back there was more sand off the beach than on it!

Try reading Coastliners by Joanne Harris (Chocolat) that may have the answer.

We sat at the tables and chairs at Centiannes on Tuesday afternoon having a drink as we couldn't get onto the beach. Two men were repairing the wire at the edge of the path - we thought that there were more rocks just beyond the path than usual so presumably this was the site of the rock fall. Also the cliff face just along from where we were sitting had been ' scraped' as had some of the rock below the path.

There were a few people who'd presumably waded to the furthest part of the beach but we thought we'd get too wet and possibly trapped - we asked and were told the tide would be out by about 7 pm
