Can someone please let me know where you pay for Parking if you use the Short-Term Car Parks at Faro? - ie cash ony machines or can you use a card for payment? I am assuming you get your ticket when entering and pay somewhere when leaving.
Thanks
HR

I have only paid cash as it is usually only 1 or 2 euros. The machine is outside the doors from arrivals to the car parks next to the small cafe.

Cheers Logic. Will need to be using the short stay in the next couple of weeks.

I have found that if you rent a car from one of the Car Park 4 companies (e.g. AlgarveDriver), then you cannot use the car parks other than number 4. Its free to enter and exit car park 4, and you will be refused entry to the other parks - the barrier will not raise on entry.

Thanks for that additional info Richard - we will have a car from Algavedriver. So presumably we can park up in carpark 4 then drive down to the dropoff/pickup area to collect passengers?

I beg to differ but I always use the short term car park with rental cars including AlgarveDriver.

The YOR rep told me not to use P4 unless I was returning the car.

I have also parked a hire car in P4 when picking up guests from the airport, but the last time I was warned of dire consequences if I parked there again, other than when returning the car. I wonder if the hire company have to pay a charge each time the car enters and leaves the car park but I am not sure of this.

It's because the hire companies get charged per entry and exit, so your time collecting people will be charged to your hire company.

As a regular Algarvedriver hirer I had always wondered about parking at P4 (sounds masonic or was that P2???) and especially this visit as I'm due to make 3 drop off/collect trips in the space of 14 days. Reckon usual procedure, I'll wait at Faro beach having coffee and await text message saying at passport control. By time I get there my pals will be at nominated pickuppoint.
All starting tomorrow, Thursday. Happy days......

We sometimes use the cafe in the filling station on the roundabout.

When I returned a car to P4 earlier this year the barrier wouldn't open apparently because my car hire company already had it's quota of cars in there so I guess that that could always be a problem. I have used the short term car park before with no problem.
Rich - there are cash machines just outside the terminal building as logicbob says - it's only a few euros.

I have waited in the petrol station too, and when my friends texted to say that that they were on their way through passport, just brought the car down to under those big canophy thingys and waited with the car for them. Plenty of others also waiting and I think the airport cops don't mind as long as you stay with your car. Worst case scenario if moved on: do a loop and come back when they are ready for pickup.
