Hello readers. Considering coming over in late May. Is it warm enough to make use of the villa pool? Is the sea quite warm? What are the chances of some interesting bays to do some snorkelling? ARe there any shops hiring/selling snorkels or should we bring them?

Thanks,
Antony.

Antony -
The weather in May should allow for some comfortable swimming temperatures but the sea will still be cold (avg. 15º-18ºC) depending on the currents. If you are travelling with kids a heatable pool could come in handy as the sun may not heat them up past the 20ºC mark.

As for activities, I suggest you go to the local tourist info office next to the parking on the main square or directly to the Hotel Almansor, they have innumerous brochures including the contact for the carvoeiro diving center. All necessary equipment is available for purchase or hire locally.

Our grandchildren, 3 and 5, had a great time splashing around in the sea and pool at May Half term last year.....I swam in the pool in late May ? 2014 when there was a heat wave, but its usually a bit too cool for me. Hearties who swim even in the winter won't agree though!
