5* Resorts - where to stay?

Hi guys,
Just got a fairly good deal on flights to Portugal the other day for mid October and we now want to to book 2 weeks in a nice 5* star resort on a self catering basis.

Whilst we want a bit of luxury, the main priorities are accommodation of a comfortable standard, spacious and clean, wifi, good security in a nice area etc... our budget will be €1000 max for the two weeks.

We're thinking of somewhere in the Monte Santo Resort - can anyone recommend here?

Also been looking at the Cascades, Martinhal but these seem a lot more expensive.

Also heard of Vale d'Oliveiras, Vila Baia and Monde da Balaia.

Which of these resorts would be the most luxurious and / or best value for money in October?

If anyone could suggest anywhere else, I would love to hear as it will be our first time in this part of Portugal so we're not familiar with the areas or accommodation out there.

Thanks everyone :)

We have family (middleage couple ) who have stayed at Monte santo three years running normally in September, they love it. Walkable through a gate at the back of the complex to the village, but also has courtesy bus from main building. Lovely indoor pool, nice garden area around out doorpool, pleasant restaurant.

Thanks Jaylay,

The Monte Santo does seem to be exactly what we're looking for - good standard of accommodation, quiet area, nice facilities etc..

We'll be hiring a car as well so we'll be able to travel and visit different towns to try out the restaurants and go sight seeing and shopping etc.

Hi Cumbria Sue, Will go and check out Rocha Brava now, thank you :)

If hiring a car then Vale d'Oliveiras worth looking at. Check their website.
