has anyone used Interent for car hire if so whats your opinion and have they got a collection point off the airport.

Only used once and will never use them again. Basically bunch of liars! I was told by 3 members of staff that I did not need to put fuel into car on my return as the cost of a full tank was included in the hire. One said to me that if engine stopped as I drove into depot then I had done well!!

On return to UK, found out they had charged my credit card £80 for fuel top up!!

No, I use rentauto via Economy Car Hire. Good company, competitive prices, but sometimes you get given an older high mileage car. Never used autorent so can't compare.

We always use Atlas choice & have done for th past 3 years & have found nobody to touch then !

Why not help this website that you are making use of for information by booking with Algarve Driver. Their details are at the top of this page. They are partnered with YOR Car Hire which has received many favourable reviews on here.

What about Goldcar Rental? Does anyone have any experience with them?

I would love to use Algarve Driver because of the good reviews here but because of budget I need to pay rental up front.

Does Algarve Driver have an option to pay full rental thru their site at time of booking?

Why do you need to pay in advance? You can pay at pick up in cash (cheaper) or with credit card

I think you will find a lot of negative reviews and bad publicity about Goldcar on this site and elsewhere.

GoldCar were the subject of a name and shame TV programme exposing their sharp practises. Not too sure but it may have been "Watchdog". There was a flood of posts on here warning people off this company.

I notice that other contributors have warned about using Gold Car. I certainly wouldn't use them again after a bad experience in July 2011. We made a booking for 2 vehicles and paid through an agent here in the UK. At that time you weren't told who the supplier would be at Faro Airport - I expect that's now changed. The cars from Gold Car were in poor condition, and on returning home, we found that they had used the credit card (submitted for security) for payment of the vehicles. Although the card was eventually credited, it was far short of the full amount. Fortunately, our credit card company finally managed to resolve the problem for us. Wouldn't touch them with a 'barge pole'.

Goldcar were also very aggressive when I wouldn't take up their damage waiver insurance when I said I'd already got waiver insurance.

So who gives a good deal on car hire, also does anyone know of a company that does one day hire pick up at Faro drop off at Carvoeiro.
