Which are the best golf courses in the Algarve?

Hi there everyone! I am back again looking for your opinions (all welcomed!)
With a golf course around every corner in the Algarve which ones are the best to play and why? Where do they have the most challenging play, which courses do you return to time and again and which ones are all hype and no golf balls!?

I only come out in the winter and, as golf on the Algarve can be very expensive, seek the best rates going at the time. This usually turns out to be Morgado and Alamos where they do some attractive deals, both of which are challenging and I enjoy. One to avoid is a fairly new one, Espiche. A lovely setting and club house, but in my opinion unfairly set up, in that a good shot can be penalised by the difficult (impossible) slopes resulting in lost balls. The only upside is that you will probably find a dozen where you lose one.

If you're a low handicap, The Faldo at Amendoeira
If you love traditional quality golf courses, The Old Course at Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago South course
If you pay for high quality & don't mind travel, Monte Rei
If you like a blend of quality & views, Palmares
If you like hitting the ball wide but not get in too much trouble, The O'Connor at Amendoeira
If you like impossible golf courses but want to tread where big names have trod, Victoria at Vilamoura

If you like good quality, low prices & don't mind travel, Quinta Da Ria, Quinta de Cima

If you want to pay big money just to say you've been there, San Lorenzo

If you like reasonable price & to enjoy a round of golf; Vale da Pinta, Gramacho, Morgado, Alamos, Benamor

If you like Mickey Mouse golf, Parque da Floresta

for me; Alto, Silves, Penina, Laguna, Pinhal, Quinta do Vale, Salgados - Meh!

& i've never been able to make my mind up about Vale do Lobo or Vila Sol, I've loved them, thought them average, thought them overrated, - & I still don't know

this ends the votes of the house of Sunman, once quite good, then average, now crap golfer, hope this helps 8)

Would love to play this course, do you know if there is any way of securing a reasonably priced green fee, say around €100 ?

If you qualify, it is worth considering joining Golf for Greys for discounted Green Fees:

Thank's Jeremy. I am a member at Amendoeira and have enjoyed playing many of the Algarve courses but just can't justify paying €170 + for Monte Rei. Maybe one day a good friend will treat me (just in case I have any who might read this !) :)
