Fathers Day
So its Fathers day today, What have you all done or given your Dads today. We took both sets of parents out for a nice meal, and a few beers, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Just hope we can all do it again next year.

Unfortunately my Dad has passed on as has my Father -in-law, so a reflective day for us.
Happy Fathers day to all

I'd like to echo your sentiments Lesley..and hope all Dads here had a lovely day!
and as you say..a day of reflection for those of us who no longer have one......
lost mine when I was 8....so never got to send a card as it wasn't celebrated then....was trying to recall when 'Father's day' came to be in this country? Would it be late 60s/early 70s?Previously only celebrated in America I believe
and what had always been 'Mothering Sunday' in UK became the American 'Mother's Day' ?

Fathers Day
Fathers day was first thought of in 1910. In1924 Presedent Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of National Fathers Day.Finally in 1966 Presedent Lyndon Johnson signed a presedential proclamation declaring 3rd June as Fathers Day. But when it arrived in England,I'm not sure. Anyone know?
