Postcard from CVO

Just returned from a fantastic long weekend in CVO, but not without incident! We arrived on Thursday just in time to watch England v Portugal
but although we lost ,the atmosphere in the square was something we'd never seen before, the partying by the Portugese AND English went on until the early hours, it didn't seem to matter who'd won! :D
On the recommendation of many forum members, we visited L'Orange
for a truly memorable meal, but it was a good job we had booked prior to leaving the UK, We rounded the weekend off (or so we thought) with lunch at Caniearos Beach on Sunday, However, when we reached Faro Airport, we were delayed by six hours and then bussed to the Ria Park
(5 star) Hotel in Vale Do Lobo for the night - A bit of a pain but we'd never been to Vale Do Lobo so it was interesting to discover that we don't ever want to go back again!!. For people going out this week - it was VERY HOT, even the portugese were complaining!! (didn't bother us though)

Wish you would have been there :D

Hiya Ellie

Re- Vale Do Lobo, The bits we saw were very manufactured, Fantastic Villas and Golf Courses but we could've been in Marbella!, We couldn't seem to find the 'Heart' of the place, but I am willing to be educated, perhaps I've got the wrong impression and would love to know if I have.
P.S. Got the info you need re Carvoeiro Sol prices for July and August,
will p.m. you.

Thanks for getting that info Tricks...friend will be grateful! :)
Just re-read my post...put it badly
What I meant was..I used to go to a butcher at Vale do Lobo..an English guy.....you could buy Brit stuff there ..you know sausages...steak pie or cheese & onion pies etc...only went now& then....
but dont really know the area.....but some of it was rather pretty countryside.
Know what you mean tho..looking for the 'heart ' of the place..real Portugal......like me you prefer the natural look of a place...
One of the worst places of artificiality ive been to is the Pestana golf area.
One of my friends waxes lyrical about the place..but I couldnt stand it :x
places like that give me the creeps........give me a wild coastline or rough countryside any day! :)
Look forward to hearing more about your trip!.......elliex

Not surprised you couldn't find the heart of it Tricky - it hasn't got one. All those villas hiding behind high hedges. No wonder its called 'Surbiton on Algarve' :(
