No word or tribute as yet for Marlon Brando..who yesterday passed away aged 80.
I dont recall seeing much of his early films....just little bits shown on TV of say 'Streetcar named Desire'..'The Wild Ones'........
But in the 60s I watched him in 'On The Waterfront' (on TV channel)alongside Rod Steiger..as was quite mesmorised by both performances but Brando always 'stole' the scene!
When asked who he considered was the greatest screen actor , without hesitation the equally great Sir Laurence Olivier said 'Marlon Brando"!
As a youngster I saw most of his later films and partucularly liked 'One-eyed Jacks' ..co -star Karl Malden.
Some critisised his performance as 'Christian Fletcher' in 'Mutiny On The Bounty' alongside Trevor Howard as 'Captain Bligh'...but I thought he was brilliant..but great though he was..apparently he had trouble remembering his lines....
according to Richard Harris(who also starred in 'Mutiny')..he would write his words where he could read them..back of his hand..wrist..cuffs of his shirt.......
Brando..one of the greats!

of course I meant Brando playing 'Fletcher Christian'!..in Mutiny on the Bounty'!
