Early birds and oranges - climate change ?

Post by roy4eyes »

This year we have noticed two surprising occurrences.

Our house martins all flew off last Monday - two weeks earlier than normal
Our oranges are starting to turn from green to orange - normally occurring in November.

What do our ornithologists/meteorologists/horticulturists make of this ? Global warming, a one-off due to late hot spell, a bad winter to come ?

A little unrelated, but our local colony of Swifts arrived 10 to 12 days late this year and returned home about 10 days ago which was at least a week early. This has been happening for the last 10 to 15 years.
