Does anyone know what possessed the Local Council to Vandalise the those tree's.

The Facebook page has a lot of comments, including some suggesting the local authorities were unaware of what has happened, and that they haven't authorised the work. Some speculation a local restaurant might be behind it. It's a shame, whatever has gone on.

According to Portuguese resident Saturday Lagoa camara were unaware and are investigating. Certainly a disaster though.

I’ve asked the company involved who had instructed this to be done but they’ve not responded.
