Visiting middle of August for two weeks (peak time). Have energetic eight year old who enjoys beach footie/cricket etc. Anyone recommend good beaches that don't get tooooo crowded. What's local one like?

Try Praia do Pintadinho.(also good for parents; there is a good restaurant at the beach; and they also sell icecreams)

Hi, We have been to cvo in August with three lively lads. We found the beaches at Ferragudo were really good, there's a really quiet one,Angrinha beach, and just a short walk around the corner is Praia Grande, which is larger. When we went last August we found it fairly quiet,Ideal for the lads,with ready made goal posts,basket ball nets etc. There is also a beach bar which sells snacks, ices, drinks etc. We found this very nice,it also overlooks Portimao marina, so plenty to look at.
