here some guidelines kaylie: I think that you should try a little harder to spell things correctly.
Please don't take offence, just a friendly tip

There is no lack of intelligence here falcon.....as Ive said on the other topic..its quick talk/text talk..and I wouldnt mind betting that young Kaylie is a very good 'speller'!
its just the teenagers way of communicating...'their' language ..fun...
Its funny .it brings back memories of my Mum telling me off for 'not speaking proper'!!!
and what did I do?
I did it all the more
Have a great time wiv your mates kaylie

It takes me ages to decipher these text messages, and when I try to use them myself nobody can understand!

So I won't bother.
Kaylie, don't you realise that those girls you met in the night clubs are portugese not spanish!!

Lighten up!
My children correspond with friends almost exclusively using txt on a computer. Doesn't mean they can't write real English when they need to.
I suspect many of you also thought the hula hoop (1st incarnation, when was that 1960?) heralded the downfall of western civilisation. Wait a mo, might be onto something there.

Peter,
Unfortunatley, I couldn't ever get the hang of the hula hoop either! Didn't have the waist (or so I was told by those who could hula for England!!)
Only joking about the texting - my children use it also but it takes me a lot longer to read it than it took them to write it.

Peter..d'you think that could have been the start of my miss-spent youth ..messing with the hula hoop
I really could give it a twirl in those times.but then waist was tiny then...had to see how long you could keep it up if I recall
But back to topic....though Im a Londoner ..its been some years since I lived there and I find when I talk to friends & family there they seem to be so fast and the accent seems different as well..
My grandson8.. has adopted a Black/street accent and punctuates his sentences with 'man' all the time.
If my daughter chastises him he says 'Just dont go there man!'
and he said to my son (who was reading)'
"D'you dig that man? Reading!"
I find it funny but daughter says I mustnt laugh ..like her grand ma did with me..shes trying to teach him to talk 'proper'!
I find 'proper' very boring!

Dee..I have the same problem..deciphering e-mails...so have to confess ...as falcon says....cant beat 'em
so now joining 'em

……I find these abbreviations save a lot of time and hassle when composing a text message on your mobile phone…..but to use them on a computer keyboard is unnecessary and inappropriate…….
so blx 2 u m8

My friend was coming round the other night for dinner and as she set off sent me a text wiv(!?) loads of m8's and da and other stuff---in the end i had to phone her and ask what she was going on about!!!AND SHE'S 40! Ellie , glad to hear you had a hula hoop - i bought one 2 years ago and for the last 3 weeks i've been going like crazy on it for my hols!! It really get the tummy muscles working! see you soon--when are you out?

Ive been doing yoga stretches and I use my walking stick (no..not for holding me up

) the one I take on long country walks for protection!
Well I use it for exercise..hold it straight out in front shoulder level..bend my elbows and then push it back over my head(if you see what i mean?)
I do sit -ups but end up wth crick in my neck

?
But me mate Tricks tells me none of this is any good unless I give up Turkish Delight

sorry..gone off topic..what can I say?
