Hello, I'm currently living in South Africa, and am working in IT. What is the job market like wrt IT and computer services? I've got about 10 years experience, and well I prolly spend more of my life on a a PC than off. I've a mate there who (he is the MAN) has offered to put me up for a bit. Is there oppertunity for my skills there?

In the UK we use a company one man and his PC, type business for all our PC needs. Ie setting up broadband, getting rid of virus' networking the computers and generally anything that goes wrong.

Being of an age (rapidly aproaching 50) where we are not techies, know just enough to get by we use this guys services often.

He is not expensive, he is reliable and does not rip us off...we trust him

Depends which part of IT you do. If you do coding (like what I do when not getting distracted by this forum), then it doesn't matter where in the world you happen to be sitting.

Both.
For instance I'm currently doing some mods to a VB6 / SQL Server programme used by a big UK food distribution firm. Next job is to convert the whole thing to asp.net and they also need a mysql database on a web server somewhere for customers to enter orders (i.e. stuff they want shipped to tesco or whatever).
Also doing the techy bits on a local farmer's website when he gets his act together, a graphic designer friend has done the pretty bit.

you may want to check out http://www.behindthecurtain.org if you want some coding inspiration (is actually more front end based but a lot of world class designers hang out there)
