Over the Christmas break we are considering taking a trip into Spain and visiting Seville.

Does anyone know how far it is from the village? I reckon about 150 miles but it's just a rough guess. It's a bit far to drive (should take about 2.5 to 3 hours?) so I'm wondering if there's a train or bus that would get us there.

Good morning Michael, this came up during the summer so worth a search. There is a coach that leaves the bus station in Lagoa and your about right with 2.5hrs. I did have the timetable for this, will have a look.

heya michael the distance from faro to sevilla is about 190 kilometers (about 118 miles or so) and we drove it in about 2 hours last summer. i think there are express busses going from faro to sevilla not sure if there are direct train services(looked up a few sites couldn`t find any) . hope this helps!

Personally, I would prefer going by car. More mobility and flexibility.

The train line on the Portuguese side of the border stops at Vila Real de Santo Antonio. You then have to drive half an hour (approx) to Huelva (bus or taxi) to pick up a train to Sevilla, as I don't believe Ayamonte on the Spanish side of the border has a train station. There was talk of constructing a train line between the Algarve and Andalusia but don't know if it was just talk or a definate intention. Gambrinus is right, it is easier and better to drive. I travelled back from Malaga to Lagoa once in the winter. It took me all day and included a 5.5 hour coach journey from Malaga to Ayamonte via Sevilla (there was only one bus a day leaving at 3pm), a taxi across the border to Vila Real, as it was too late for the ferry or a bus, a train journey from Vila Real to Faro and then another train from Faro to Silves!!! Not sure I'd do it again, although I did meet some interesting people, including a Spanish girl from Granada travelling to somewhere in the Alentejo with a guy from Texas!
