Hi all

Have a question I will be coming out on 8th December to see my new apartment (exchanged contracts last week !!) in CVO and will not be arriving arond 9ish 10ish at night. What time do the restaurants stop cooking and will there be any open at this time of year ??

They tend to eat out early in Holland so was just wondering...

Some of the restaurants are starting to close now, although there are still plenty open. You might be ok if you arrive at 9, but probably not if it is nearer 10. Maybe stop off at Algarve Shopping for something to eat on your way from the airport.

Thanks Ktee will probably pop into Algarve shopping Im happy as long as there is a watering hole open when I get to CVO !!

We are in a very similar position, having exchanged contracts, and coming out December 4th for 2 weeks. Most of the restuarants we visited end of October were closing for December, so pleased to know some are still open. Thought we were going to have to do some serious cooking!

As far as I can remember, the following are closed for holidays.

Oasis, Ele Ela, Belissimo, Casa Algarvia (re-opening approx 9 Dec), Chicos - will add to the list as and when I notice any others.

I can add another of our favourites, Lanterna Velha, to the closed list - unless they have changed their minds. Do you know if Chef Antonios will be open? We forgot to ask when we were there, and it is a good alternative to L V.

Mmmmmm Our favourite too, simply do a wonderful lamb, which as Brits living in Holland we don't get often, have to search around for a decent priced lamb cutlet. Sorry to keep harping about food but it's 17:10 still at my desk working (Yeh right) and I can still taste that lamb. Thanks all for keeping us updated on opening times etc

My favourite is the pork with clams portuguese style, although we have many dishes as yet untried. I'm getting hungry.

I think Chefe Antonio is still open - he's normally open for Christmas and New Year anyway.

Lanterna Velha seemed to be open the other night but will check and let you know next week - off to the UK tonight for a couple of days

Cannot help with regards to restuarants etc but just wondered where you new apartment was? Had you been looking for long? and why you choose the one you did.

Hi Guest, who are you asking B D or G & G? Our new apartment is Carvoeiro terrace (the road is called Povo d Burro, I just know I've got this wrong, hubbie would know) just off the square, new build. We chose simply becasue of location, elderly parents to get about easily, 3 sons between us from 15 up to 20 so Dico and Bars came into it and of course we just simply fell in love with the place, felt nice and friendly.
