A brilliant scoop.

The square presentation suggests that these were taken with a medium format camera - from the quality I would guess a Hasselblad. No AE and certainly no autofocus which makes some of the people shots even more remarkable.

The exceptional quality aside, they present a very different ambiance and attitude from today. These people could never have expected the general material improvement that has occurred in the last thirty years but with consequences that are too often not very attractive.

I took some similar people photographs in the old Portimao market, the quayside and also in Silves, in the early / mid '80's - before Portugal had entered the EU. The tone had changed very little since 1969.
