Here is a travel tip:
When in a foreign country make sure to always carry something that will let others know where you are staying (Hotel card, managers contact, etc). Reason being, if you are incapacitated, for whatever reason
, people trying to assist you will know where to look for family or friends to help you out.
Last week was the second time in a few months that I ran into a bloke who could not even say his own name properly and who´s alcohol amnesia had eliminated any recollection of where he was staying.
Now as any good hotel manager will tell you, no hotel or resort will lodge a drunk, gritty, bruised and insulting man after midnight, unless they already have a room paid for.
The end of that story was a good nights sleep in a cell at the local police station and probably a fine for stupidity.
