Hi, I am bringing the family ( wife, and 4 children, 4,8,15 & 16) to D da Lapa this summer. I can find very little written about the complex can anyone help?

Tim...My wife and stayed there for the first time this last February for
a month and we loved it. I assume with four children you are renting
a villa. They are like duplex houses, two villa in each building. The first
floor has a large livingroom, dining room and a well equipt kitchen, also
a half bath downstairs. Upstairs there are two bedroom with large
closets and a full bathroom.
The grounds have large lawns and plenty of room for kids to play.
There is a large pool, minimart and a restaurant also.
The staff I thought did an excellent job running and maintaining the place.

Gee..after all this buildup you would think that I'm on their payroll.

My wife and I, along with our three year old, stayed there for two weeks about a year ago. Very nice resort, no more than a few years old. As already said, the accommodation consists of semi-detached villas, which are very well spaced. They have large living and dining areas (dining table sits six) with TV (some sat. channels) and telephone. Kitchen contains full oven, grill and hob, fridge freezer, washing machine, coffee maker, toaster, juicer and a few other gadgets. (There’s an iron and board and a hair drier).

There is a WC downstairs and a full bathroom with bath, shower, twin sinks, and so on upstairs. The two bedrooms are very large and have lots and lots of storage space.

There are patio areas off the kitchen, dining area and lounge area and there are balconies too both bedrooms.

The lounge area and both bedrooms have independent air conditioning units.

I would describe the accommodation as “Home from Home”.

On site there is a pool, kids pool, tennis courts, bowling green, small shop (very expensive), restaurant (good service, reasonable food, a little on the expensive side), bar, children’s club and small kids playground (one swing and a slide).

The complex is a couple of miles away from the village center (about £3-4 in a taxi) and about a mile from the beach (there is a free bus that takes you to both a couple of times a day). Nearby (about 10 mins. walk) there is a small supermarket and a couple (two) of café/bars and a restaurant.

My advice is that you hire a car, but watch out for the insurance excess. Take out the full insurance cover for a few euros more or use these guys. http://www.all-inclusive-car-hire.com/f ... ndex.shtml

The sister resort at Colina village has an indoor pool which is heated, you can also use this if you wish. Colina Village is about 5 mins. drive away.

Ranger..I have a habit of writing in haste and repenting at leisure..

After my wife read my original post she told me to hang on to my
present job and not to take up writing for a living.
