what is the forum for ??
we have become regular viewers of the forums many catergories as they provide usefull info which we are saving for the move which may take place end of next year.
However what ofetn starts of as a serious enquiry/discussion too often seems to degenerate ino a series of one line comments and responses un related to the subject between individuals who obviously know each other well.
Should not these commuincations be left to personal e mails leaving the forum for its intended use ??

You´re so right, but then they will have nothing interesting to say. It also may happen that if you are not known by these serious senior members you are left aside or your topic even moved.
I guess that the expats are a bit bored and they have found in this forum a way of feeling alive. Obviously it is completely logic but there is still that proudness and superority that you find in many replies. It seems that if you are not an expat your contributions are not welcomed.
That is the impression i have had and i may be wrong.

well okay..I own up..
Im as guilty as the next at 'chatting' on here....but dont consider myself superior (as I know very well I am not!)..by any means but part of the 'whole' ?..
this is a 'little community' ..people make friends here and after a few years we are bound to 'interact' with each other?
I think you will have to admit that usually..if you ask a question or want particular info..theres lots of good folk here only to ready to help? Yes? No?....ellie
Hope Im not a 'serious' senior member...never let it be said

what is the forum for
ok, obviously we did not understand what the forum is really for. ( we do enjoy eco spiders rants and sometimes even agree with him ).
But if you are looking for trivia or going off at a tangent just look at the recent entries for " fish and chips " or baby sitters.
If you are really loking for deviations from the question asked just look for the responses to any subject relating to golf, local beaucracy building developments or the price of fish.
Just realised have turned into one of those whose activities we sought to question !!!

Try as we may, lizz, every so often a serious topic will get hijacked, at which point I will dutifully split, move or delete as apropriate to then get my ar*e kicked by those who do not apreciate the many hours of hard work that go into maintaining a forum.
Netiquette (eco, look it up please
) is sometimes lost in the heat of debate, but generally most of the poeple are on here to help out if somebody has a query.

Hmm, clutching at straws a little there Lizz, The fish and chips thread had an immediate answer then followed some humourous banter, nothing wrong with that I would have thought. The Babysitter thread more or less stayed on topic, with some pertinent and useful information. However, If you want to see some threads that go off topic big time, look no further than the Chit-Chat section.
