Hey everyone

Im going over to Carvoeiro in a few weeks time and i was wondering what the average drink prices are.

As an Irishman, im especially interested in the price of Guinness.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes I remember that stuff called a choice of Portuguese beer.
Super Bock, Sagres, Cristal Now all there seems to be is Tagus. all I can say is the brewery must be giving it away Everybody serves it, Gone are the old bar local bar beers and it tastes as if its just been piped directly from the river of the same name. Cynical I may be but yet another case of "just give 'em that rubbish' they'll be gone in two weeks

Sorry forgot to mention Locally brewed Tagus is 3.5 Euros in some bars and that stuff doesnt have to come from Dublin So dont be so surprised about your pint of Nigerian Lager.

I love TAGUS - best beer here - I go out of my way to buy it... seriously. Stop whingeing about the beer guys, its hot here, the beer is cold, what more do we need?

Well there's no accounting for taste and you certainly dont have to go very far out of your way to buy it.

I find Portuguese beer as weak as water and much prefer a drop of the black stuff

Try my namesake joint for the real stuff. Guinness is good for you.It puts lead in your pencil

Good lord, I haven't been on this forum for about six months but the minute I come back to defend poor old Portugal the "bifas" start moaning about their beer.

It's amazing how often I have been to lunch or whatever and the English people (normally English not Welsh, Irish or Scottish) start having a go at how underdeveloped the locals are, or how slow they are etc...

It makes me sick! If you are a foreigner (and I am a South African) you will NEVER be a local here. You will always be a visitor, so try your best to fit in with the local beer, customs and funny litttle gripes you think the Portuguese have. Import your beer on the sly(I import the South African goodies I crave) if you wish, but don't go around belittling the local stuff.

Come on guys, every country does something wrong, but most of us are here to enjoy the goodlife.

Falcon, it's the old North/South dichotomy.....

In the North, everything has to be fast....if you don't move fast you freeze..and die.

In the South, if you move fast, you can get heat stroke... and die.

Everything works off that concept.

It's all about how you look at time, and time in the South is not the same as time in the North.

I've lived in places where, if your family hasn't lived there for at least a generation or two, you were an "Outsider"....
(you either fit in or you left...and, even if you fit in, you were still an "Outsider")



Tourists, on the other hand, are a class unto themselves, they exist only to bring in money into the local economy.

dont think we have met before falcon and in the wild you would probably be after me for lunch but Ill take a chance and say this anyway.
Dont get your y-fronts,jockeys or posing pouch in a twist We all have our different tastes and we can put our opinions freely on here!
though I love good wine and maybe a cocktail or 2 I like real ale and I don't find Portuguese beers much to my taste.

If you guys didn’t drink so much there’d be plenty of the good stuff to go round. It’s just unfortunate that in certain parts of the country reserves have to be conserved and vendors have to resort to serving river water. And we are proud of you guys doing your bit for Portugal, and at 3.50 euros a glass you're certainly helping reduce the budget deficit.
