• SLANG TERM FOR THE EURO

does anyone have any suggestions for the slang term for a euro-...
we have a quid for the pound...a buck for the dollar
and the euro....er....well heres mine A ROEY

that will be ...50 roeys ...er.mate tar ever so

any other ideas

Good call Jeff but a little long, what about . . .

Cons - that'll be 50 cons please (yeah I know strictly speaking converted from the old Escudo that it should be about 40 but you know how is!)

and call it a ..........jack..

as in...."jack the rip-off"

In Holland we somtimes call it a DUISO (after the EU-bank president) or SCHEURO (a bit nasty especially with the graphic)

twist of irony here: peeps from england/america are discussing a slang term for a currency they don´t have or want.

My vote goes to the german term "TEURO" - for the non-germans: it would translate to something like "EXPENSIVO"

Can't see the irony Gambrinus . . . it is not like it is something we have nothing to do with . . . all european holidays, etc

maybe we do want the euro......we have not yet had the chance to vote
on it....!
i live in the uk....however am only 12 miles from the irish border..most
of the local shops have both euro and sterling tills....its probably only a matter of time before we join,..hopefully at a more preferable rate than
currently.......!!

that is true, maddi, but this particular currency has a lot thats been said about it by the people who adhered (more or less willingly) to it as well as the people who didnt - I just think it is ironic, that this particular subject (nickname, slang term) is being discussed by people who have yet to make that call, wether they will take it or not.

By the looks of it, most brits already have a pretty fixed idea of what the euro will bring them - higher prices, lower living quality, etc. - basically reflecting, that downsides always surface a lot easier than upsides.
