Do you feed garden birds?

I just wondered if people in Carvoeiro feed the garden birds as we do in Great Britain? We have had several holidays in the Algarve and have not seen bird tables and feeders for sale, do garden centres sell them? We are garden birdwatchers and do weekly counts for the BTO, this is why I ask the questions as we have an interest in birds in general.
With Regards

I have just had a look at the Wildlife Section on the Silves-Messines forum and it doesn't answer my question, which was do residents feed garden birds?

Hi Emma
I can only speak from my own experience of when I lived there (Lagoa & near Porches)..
I took nut & seed boxes out with me and I did hang them out, but can honestly say I never saw a bird come near them and the food seemed to remain untouched!
But others, who are resident now, may prove me wrong. I also worked a large garden in the countryside but even there I don't recall seeing much bird life in the garden itself.
Mind you, we lived on the edge of Lagoa and the 'bird scarer' was always going off in field nearby..so that could have been the reason!
Im sorry I can't be of more help and I hope you get more 'positive' news here,
good luck, ellie

Hi Emma. We do feed the birds in the garden every day. Every morning a lot of sparrows are waiting for it. Not with any feeders till now. I think SaniPina sells feeders etc.

We feed the sparrows when we are in residence, and they are remarkably tame. Problem is we also feed the local cats, and cats + sparrows are not a good mix! Looked for a bird table, or something we could hang on a wall, when we were last over, but didn't find anything. Where is SaniPina DaGi?

Have also tried hanging containers of seed and peanuts with little or no interest shown other than by sparrows.

Behind the Mestre Maco. Follow the road for approx. 200 mtrs and you will see this store for garden etc.
