Sesmarias Country Club is not within walking distance of Carvoeiro, it is about 10 minutes by car so you would need to get a taxi there and back.

The nearest restaurants are the pizza place at Sesmarias, Casa Rustica and Bon Bon restaurant.

When we were house hunting we were shown a couple of properties in the Sesmarias 'country club', I don't know why it's called 'country club' it just seems to be an urbanisation. I would say that you definitely need a car if you're staying there, apart from a couple of local bars, a couple of restaurants & an Ali Super there is not much else. I don't know how long it would take you to walk down to town, it would take me forever but then I'm not much of a walker & the walk back up would be a killer. We are currently long term renting a place in Sesmarias & we love it, just a 5 - 10 minute drive into town & our favourite beaches in Ferragudo are only about a 10 minute drive in the opposite direction plus the views of the mountains.
I hope you enjoy your stay & your husband has a great birthday. :D

thanks

From FAQ

Local Taxi driver José Manuel is reliable, speaks English and German and is well recommended. You can reach him under 9679 50192.

Also, try 282 460610 or 9672 38506.

There are plenty of taxis (ranks) in the village, one of which is near the square at the bottom of the hill.
