We have flown our dog several times to other EU countries ie Slovenia , Italy and Latvia. They need the EU pet passport and a check up within 48 hours before leaving. Obviously, the rabies vaccinations need to be current and the dog should be in good health. We used TAP Airlines. The only thing I recommend is fly early in the morning if you are going in warm weather months and make it as direct as possible.

Good luck!

Thanks very much for the info. Could you tell me, did you fly from Faro with TAP and other than EU Passport do I need any other documents. Also how do I find out what crate size I need to follow EU rules ?

Thanks

Your vet can point you in the right direction. They will give you a health certificate and make sure that the vaccinations are up to date. As far as the kennel goes, take your dog to the pet store and choose one that is certified for airline travel. Your dog should be able to stand up and turn around.

WE flew TAP out of Faro, and changed planes in Lisbon/
