Security Shutters
Security Shutters
Hi,
Does anyone know of a good company to install security shutters on our sliding patio doors? We need something to close at night when the glass doors are open, so it needs to be an 'open' design and look reasonable (not like a shop!)
Thanks in advance!
Bert

Re: Security Shutters
Any of the aluminium window companies will be able to supply these products as they are part of their Systems.
The usual one is a side hung aluminium louvre door type usually in brown or white paint You will see them everywhere in the Algarve.
The will need a decent lock ( we have added a bolt to ours ).
You do get some air through them at night

Re: Security Shutters
Thanks for your reply EMM,
I should have said that this is a 4 metre span, with a wall at each side, so it will need to be a retractable or 'concertina' type arrangement, probably running in some sort of track. We would also like to be able to see-through it easily.
Regards,
Bert

Re: Security Shutters
You could fit a heavy duty insect screen but I would not think that this would be secure enough if your intention is to leave the patio doors open at night.
There are rigid expanded metal screens ( think fishing net ) where the panel fits in a track and locks like a patio door.

Re: Security Shutters
You can try Miraminio in Lagoa. Give the owner a call ne is called Antonio Miraldes and his number is 00351 965 139 804. He spent time in SA so does not sound Portuguese but speaks good English and does good work! A 4m span of shutters will not be cheap but Antonio will be able to take you to see some great products for such a span at a manufacturers show factory in Alcantarilla which is only 10 minute away but not open to the public.
