Hi Bondi
I'm assuming no news is good news...at least I got a First aid kit from Lidl for £4 rather than theirs for 15 euro. Every little helps!

Not trying to be rude Bondi, but do you think it possible that you are maybe getting a wee bit obsessive over this?
Nobody wants to get caught out....God forbid....but the Camra seems to be totally inactive on this one.

Re: "AL " Tourist Rental Licensing process
I have just had a call from a company called www.rentallicence.com asking if we wanted them to arrange our tourist licence. Has anyone heard of them before? they are asking for €510 plus i.v.a. to do this. their website looks ok but I just wondered if anyone had actually used their services.
look forward to your comments

Re: "AL " Tourist Rental Licensing process
They are using the holiday rental sites as their reference and cold calling.
I do not know anyone who is using them.

Re: "AL " Tourist Rental Licensing process
they said when I asked them how did they get my home number in the UK, they said they had been in touch with the Notaria
Re: "AL " Tourist Rental Licensing process
looked at the website , the fire/safety items they charge E150 can be bought for less than half this from MAKRO.

Re: "AL " Tourist Rental Licensing process
A little more than a year after starting the process, we have finally received our licence from Lagoa Câmara. The only pending matter now is the plaque and I’m still not clear whether or not one is actually required. In any event, it seems that Lagoa doesn't have any available. Does anyone have a definitive view on this?
Any thoughts very welcome. Thanks, Pete

Re: "AL " Tourist Rental Licensing process
i got my license after a long wait from sikves camara. they kept coming back for more and more paperwork, and there was a statautory 60 day inspection clause. about the plaque i finally got mine from silves payoing 20 euros ,after a very long wait too. It is not yet mandatory to have one placed outside the property, but make sure you have your compalints book, handy and notices clearly displaced in the property to say the complaints book is available, and also display a copy of authority to rent framed and securly dispalyed in prominent position.

My understanding is that there is no specific requirement to either display the license or advertise the fact that a complaints book is available and, unless I hear to the contrary, I for one have no intension of doing either. Why invite problems?BONDI wrote:. . . . . make sure you have your compalints book, handy and notices clearly displaced in the property to say the complaints book is available, and also display a copy of authority to rent framed and securly dispalyed in prominent position.

Because feedback from customers will enable you to see what, if anything, you can do to make improvements. Ignoring them or even refusing to acknowledge them will only count against you in the long term.Mexican Pete wrote:.... Why invite problems?

Re: "AL " Tourist Rental Licensing process
There are numerous ways of managing issues that arise without the burden of a formal, legal complaints book, which, by the way, brings a whole raft of additional bureaucracy into play as soon as anything is written in it.
I don't subscribe to the principle of ignoring complaints, but I also don't need the state to dictate how to run a successful rental. This (complaints book) was introduced as a way of ensuring fairness to the holidaymaker - commendable, but once again the implementation is just dramatic overkill.
