If the GNR say they are immigrants and are illegal , what are they doing about it ???

Also the gang from poco partido, this was raided by the police months ago and all the suspects had disappeared
leaving only mothers & children. My info tells me that they blatantly use the stolen goods (buggies,etc) but one must produce a
goods receipt to prove it was stolen.
The bottom line is the GNR know who are carrying out these crimes and need to make an example of one or more.
Regarding previous suggestions of secure grilles, little poles in the sliding doors, these will not stop the thieves, I know because
I tried them all. The only way is an alarm system / CCTV.
The GNR should set a few traps and catch them in the act.

We have been the victims of crime both in Portugal and the UK and to be honest find no difference between the reactions or effectiveness of the GNR or the much better paid, more numerous, better educated better rescourced UK police.

As for the atitude towards illegals I can already hear the Daily express readers getting up steam about those in the UK.

No , I just dont have higher expectations from the GNR unlike some who post on this forum.

The UK is home but its some of the English ( a significant and growing minority ) and what they are becoming ( anti social atitudes/behaviour ) that I don,t like and why we spend a significant part of the year in PT.

and i bet when EMM does go home he stays away from that certain City in NW England for fear of bumping into those trapeze artists who supposedly caused the mini crime wave in CVO a few years back. But for them type manchesters not a bad place really !!

I'm not sure which forum to write this on but i thought i should make people aware. My mum and little neice were out visiting us last month. On Friday the 23rd of October 2009 after having a lovely walk up to algar seco then down to grand cafe for a cola we started walking home. We had just turned into the entrance of Quinta do Paraiso (where i live) when my neice shouts car coming. So we get on the pavement in single file, as the car passes it hits my arm and i turn to say to my mum that the car was a bit close as it nearly knocked me down. Unfortunately it had knocked my mum down and stolen her handbag. I started to chase after the car but they had the boot open so i could not see the registration number. There was a young girl with long dark hair brown skin (perhaps Brazillian)hanging out the back passenger window (i actually thought it was a dog at first). The first car i stopped got a look at the driver because it nearly crashed into them and it was a young short haired blond girl. The car was a silver hatchback. My mum broke her elbow and had to have it pinned. This happened at 5pm in the afternoon in daylight. I have to admit that i did walk up and down to the town at least once a day now i take the car.

Don't let it affect you so much. If it was me I'd be walking up and down all the time looking for the girl/car. Once you let fear rule your life the bad guys have won.

We are sorry to hear of your troubles but we are resolved to not let the B*****ds get to us and we will return next year if we can find a nice villa

We have just had a letter from the Carvoeiro Police today it is written in Portuguese can I email anyone with a picture of the letter so they can translate for us? I think they are saying the caught the B*****ds and are prosecuting??
