Moving to Carvoeiro

We are in the process of buying a villa in Carvoeiro and intend to move out there at the end of the year.
Can anyone tell me if my television /video will be compatible in Portugal - don't want to bring them over if they aren't going to work!

depends on their age...if they are too old i wouldnt bother as you can buyvideo recorders here for 120 euros.. yes they will work but you will find that if you plug the aerial directly into the tv (for portuguse tv) you will not get sound..but plug it into the video and then connect with a scart lead to the tv and you should succeed.

Thanks for your advice - maybe I'll give it a try as the tv is relatively new - might save me a few euros if I don't need to buy a new one!

You,ll pick up all the gear you need in algarve shopping for half nothing...eg dvd player 62 euro,mind you bang and olfsen are right beside them......lord give me willpower

Aything that plugs directly into the TV...ie DVD ..Video..will of course work here or there...nothing to do with the system here....But I'm sure you will want Sky etc ..so try to keep a UK address...but if you cannot..the local Sky shops will find one for you..at a small charge.......and to recap....we are 50 hz and 220 Volts...all very much the same as uk...
