Our local paper (UK) featured the conviction of a burglar this week. An 84 year old lady got up in the night and found the burglar in the spare bedroom, so she called for her 59 year old daughter who grabbed him, but he got free. So the incensed 84 year old lady picked up a walking stick and beat him up. He eventually escaped by leaping through a glass door. Police followed the trail of blood to his house and arrested him. So, that's the way to do it. For once commonsense prevailed and the old lady was not prosecuted for assault, instead both women were given bravery awards.

I keep the heavier half of a snooker cue under my bed. I too will be expecting a bravery award.

I've just been looking through this weeks freebie newspaper. Our town is a similar size to Carvoeiro. There were 5 reported break-ins, a conviction for burglary, an attempted armed robbery (the newsagent chased them off), not to mention various drug related offences. I know for a fact that not all break-ins were reported in the newspaper. So I suspect that cvo is not that different to most European towns.

I haven't dared mention that when I went to the post office the other day the jewellers opposite was swarming with GNR, the shutter looked like it had been jemmied up & for some reason a wedge of concrete was in the gap, don't know if they got in or not

Yep the jewellers next to Improvisto got broken into, apparently it was about 6am during the week & they did get away with some stock.

Well, they're not going to stop me enjoying the place. You'd never do anything or go anywhere if you considered what might or might not happen. As such, just booked a flight for Feb 6th for a few days, complete with list of jobs to get done by the wife :?

That would probably be a great deal easier than the list she's given me

So long as it is a 'list of jobs to get done by the wife' you may as well relax and have a beer whilst she gets on with them :D
