sun parasol repair?
sun parasol repair?
I have a large sun parasol, which I intended to advertise for sale. unfortunately during our visit in may when I was 'winding' it open one day the cord snapped. don't know how this happened so soon, only purchased last year and virtually unused.
does anyone know if is it possible to replace this 'cord' -runs from the 'winder' up through the umbrella and back down the opening up mechanism?
if its not possible to fix - easily and cheaply - then I will just bung it in a skip and forget about it.
reason for sale is that its too big for our roof terrace, and it gets very windy up there so someone with a groundfloor patio or garden would find it more useful than we did. (one not totally unlike was for sale in IZI for €89,and I was hoping to get for around €35 for it, including 4 large paving stones that we have on the base) that is of course if we can replace the cord.

Hmm! Sounds like a serious problem here Joey I suggest that you stich a new cord to the old one and pull it through, that is of course if the cord is protruding from the pole, superglue could also solve the problem but you'd have to leave it up all the time.............If neither of those solutions are satisfactory, I suggest you throw the Fu**ing thing in the bin a stop being a miserable tight-wad

or I could a come up to ADM and stick it somewhere else .Hmm! Why dont you take it back to the place where you bought it and try to get your money back if it is under a year old.
Re: sun parasol repair?
thanks Lb.
around may last year we moved into the apt. lots to purchase and I did keep quite a few receipts (mostly electrical) but also threw away lots as well, this was one I didn't keep. can't even recall if it was Izi or Leroy. hard enough to get it into the hired car in the first place so won't be bringing it back. bin job methinks.

Hi Joey
I seem to manage to fix most things - much to the wifes annoyance some times! If you are "binning" it, I would like to have a go and will give you something for it if I succeed

Don't be too hasty Joey boy. We will take a wee look at it when we get there in June!!! Might even take some good Irish string with us It will give us something to do during the long wet afternoons that we can expect at that time of year
Re: sun parasol repair?
exactly same thing happened to me . You can repair it - need to take it all to pieces and the I bought some washing line and threaded it through using a bent metal coat hanger . Passed an afternoon but is good as new
Re: sun parasol repair?
might give that a lash with the help of pointersister. washing line would be strong enough and probably start at 'umbrella' end and work back words the winder.wolfie wrote:exactly same thing happened to me .
