With the current economic situation - why would anyone visit an estate agent if they're looking to buy a property? If you're looking to buy visit a local bank - they all have extensive lists of repossessd properties for sale at great prices. Some banks even offer the costs of evaluation and the "escritura" costs. Estate agents will not be selling any time soon.

I was asked by a client to investigate " bank resales " the lack of response was deafening.
Banks do not want the hassle of re possesions they are generally not equipped to deal with them.

I would hazard a guess that many banks in Portugal and all over the world are not valuing repossessed properties at market values since that would make their balance sheets look even worse than they already do

Unless you owe them money, and are credit worthy? This way, they revalue and shaft you for even more, by making your own equity worthless!

Oh yes - they will shaft you if they do repossess just as they charge exorbitant interest for loans ( if you can get one! ) while paying peanuts to savers. It's no wonder that bankers are so despised now
