Re: pet transportation
What a beautiful cat. Give him time to "suss" out his terrirory and he will soon be marking "his" domain and he'll soon let other cats know it!
My cousin's inlaws had a labrador and they lived in the Algarve. They were getting frail and could not look after "Rosie" properly, so my cousin took her back to London. Rosie was terrified of the journey by road and was very miserble because of the UK weather. Enfield is rather different from the sunshine and climate of Portugal. After a few months she soon settled in. Then again having a family spoiling her rotten does tend to help!

Re: pet transportation
After 12 months of worrying how I was gong to get my cats back to UK I did the following.
If you look on DEFRA website it will tell you which flights you can take cats on board (in hold) Not all flights will take cats as there has to be the official agency at the UK airport.
I transoorted mine with Monarch into manchester. I paid 1 euro plus taxes for my flights and the 2 cats cost approx 700 euros.
The "officials " at Faro airport were very strict about the size of the carrier etc and dont forget they have to have drinking water in their carrier albeit an inch or so.
It was organised through Jets for Pets and they took the cats in Manchester, passed them through quarantine and away we went home.
All in all a very smooth operation and far less stressful than I had worried about.
Just ensure that all your paperwork is 100% correct as there is no room for errors - they just won't be let on the flight or passed through quarantine in the UK.
