WiFi

Post by Colana »

Hi,

I am thinking of getting WiFi installed and have been told that Cabovisao is offering good deals at the monent. Does anyone have any experience of them?

Thanks,

The best option as it's fibre optic broadband but , it's not cheap - I am pleased with it and its superior to PT Telecom in all respects IMHO.

I didn't think Carvoeiro had the fibre optic cables yet ? I would be very interested in having my broadband with a company that has fibre optic as the Pt we have is dire at best! We pay for 12 mb & on a good day will get 6mb & it is also always dropping the signal. We even considered satellite broadband because ours is so bad.

The only fibre system in CVO is Meo I believe. 25-30 mps and tv channels as well ~ €45 pm. Vodafone offer a cheaper system, but haven't put the cables in yet.

We had Cabovisao at our old place in Mato Serrao, which was quite good. After moving house Cabovisao cable did not extend to our new property but Meo did. Swapped to Meo same day. The engineer even stayed late to replace what he thought was some dodgy cable. Excellent service at 35 Euros per month (promotion) giving excellent WiFi, internet TV and phone. Speeds very good; at least as good as Virgin in the UK. Give them a try.

I had the same problem with them some time ago.
Go to their store in Portimao , with proof you are only getting 6 mgb download and they will reduce your monthly charge.
I have tried every provider, to get a good speed, here in Areias dos Moinhos, we can't get fiber. The best I can get is unlimited from Nos. Speeds vary between 20 mg to 1.5 depending on the time of year.
Good luck and please keep us informed on what you get and your location.

Do you have to have a phone line for Internet or can you do it through a dongle like in UK?
