Telephone Line Rental cost?

Please can anyone tell me the line rental per month and initial set up costs to install landline. + what is the procedure? and the million dollar qquestion...how long does it normally take to go live assuming the line is already there...as it is a new build?

€12.30 line rental. If line there and keeping same number just a case of filling in the forms + usual ID, fiscal number etc to the local office. Pay the bill up to date if any outstanding and charge for transfer. €60 comes to mind but not quite sure on that. Took a couple of days for us because their computers were down but normally there should be no delay.

This is a new build, ie it is just built no one yet lived there., but they have put 2 telephone sockets in.

how much are the calls per min, any idea?

On the pt website click on "Mapa do Site" - then select "Tarifario" - then "Glossario" on that page you will see reference to Chamadas Internacionais - click there and you get to download a pdf price list (60kb file - not too big).

BUT - if using quite a bit you would be better looking for one of the "low cost" providers for international calls (PT to the UK I think is about 0.22/min - for example "world Brokers is I think 0.11 per min) - then beyond that there is the whole VOIP debate which is already on this site several times

http://www.globaltalk.pt/home_eng.asp is a possibility too. They claim to save 70% off PT rates to most countries. Also if you join AFPOP you get further discounts.
