IMI TAX ON PROPERTY

Post by anil »

Hi to all you nice forum members,

Yet again i am looking for some information with regards to IMI TAX which we are supposed to be paying every year. I HAVE just been requested to pay the IMI on behalf of my partner, who is the joint owner of the property we bought last year. Does anybody know if IMI is payable TWICE for the same property if it is Jointly owned by 2 people. It doesnt make sense to me as to why we have each to pay IMI TAX on one and th e same property. Maybe somebody might have had to do thE same ? Any views on this matter will be most appreciated. MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL IN ADVANCE. :( :?

If a property is jointly owned the total IMI payable is divided between the two people and each receives a separate bill for one half of the amount due. If the annual payment is in turn split into two instalments (April and September)
each person will receive 2 bills a year.
