Pinetrees near Almancil is very good, the horses are all well looked after and they will match you to a horse for your ability, friendly staff and some great beach rides. The great thing is that they have all the kit you could need so you don't have to fill your suitcase with boots, hat, jods etc.

I went riding there with LJ - lovely horses and the lent us gloves (which had been freshly laundered) and BS standard hats. Run by an English lady who has been over there for many years. Definitely recommend it - popped over a few jumps and then picked fruit on the way back for a quick snack. But it is soooooo hot if you go in August, even if you go out quite early.
