View the Algarve Channel 5 documentary film on the Red Palm Weevil. This is a beetle that is threatening the health of many Palm Trees in the Algarve. The second part of this series talks about the environmentally friendly product that can be used to combat the beetle, the cleaning process of the tree as well as the how the product is applied.

This might well be wrong information but we were told that it seems it is only the male trees (the ones which don't produce the fruits) that are being affected by the 'bug' Does anyone know if this is true??? ours is a female and is such a feature in our garden that I would hate to loose it

anyway if your trees are affected at least you wont need to run down to the store for food
