Estate agents
Does anyone have any tips on who are the best (most honest / best service) and the worst (unscrupulous / unethical) estate agents in town. I have heard a few horror stories about one particular agent who all the others seem to hate and some good stories about some of the others. But what is the general consensus?
Re: Estate agents
If you have lived in the village for many many years, then you are (presumably) far more aware of what is what than most of us who only visit a few times a year!
Re: Estate agents
I find some poster's names very strange. I presume "O-Bife-bem-passado" means Old Cow - wonder who that could be?
Re: Estate agents
Ana Paula Marques sold me my house & she was a joy to work with. Reliable, well informed, and professional - without her input I may not have taken the plunge. As you're local you may know her already ; if not pm me for contact details.
Re: Estate agents
We used Mark at Palm Properties when we bought our place, highly recommended and the 2 year aftersales service which includes the use of a translator has proved invaluable
Re: Estate agents
we used edgar de lagos from EDL based right in the centre of carvoeiro.they are a long standing family in carvoeiro & edgars father built many villas in carvoeiro a few years ago.the company has quite a few properties on their books & are very friendly & very helpful with advice on the buying process etc
Re: Estate agents
We brought our property through Miquel @ Vernons at the bottom of restuarnt hill and the service we got from him was 5*
Re: Estate agents
Where are the positive comments from sellers all we are hearing about are agents acting for buyers when in fact they should be acting on behalf of the seller. That is who pays them NOT the buyer.

It's a play on words in Portuguese, bife bem passado means a well cooked steak but they call us Brits Bifes, so I am saying that I am well cooked one. Actualy I like my steak raresam wrote:I find some poster's names very strange. I presume "O-Bife-bem-passado" means Old Cow - wonder who that could be?

Re: Estate agents
Logically, most people who have sold are not buying again in Cvo - hence they will not be on here!!!
I purchased from Vernons and they were very helpful.

Re: Estate agents
both villas either side of me in VDM and a friend with villa at the top of restaurant hill sold through Palm, they said the guy gave them a realistic picture of expectations and came up with clients for them in a reasonable time.
Zoe at Winkworth has a good reputation, as does her father at Santos above Smilers.
general consensus is still that it's very much a buyers market.

Re: Estate agents
We were involved in the sale of an apartment in Lagos last weekend, The seller came down 10k the buyer increased original offer by 10k. Both parties seem satisfied.
Re: Estate agents
Her dad is Brian, didn't know if he was still with Santos. He sold us our apartment inCVO, but at that time he worked for an Estate Agent in Portimao. Can recommend him.sunman wrote: Zoe at Winkworth has a good reputation, as does her father at Santos above Smilers.
