like all things invented in UK but now made in China , perhaps this gadget may be the answer for driving along the A22...erm toll free guv...no doubt the Chinese shops here in the Algarve would do a roaring trade.

Re: Toll free motoring solution
I'd like the rear machine guns used on Bonds Aston Martin so that I could get rid of the tail-gaters on the A22 and N125

Putting on your brake lights for a moment can have an interesting effectcereza wrote:I'd like the rear machine guns used on Bonds Aston Martin so that I could get rid of the tail-gaters on the A22 and N125![]()

Yep - one day chugging along at 130 (and a bit!) I was overtaking several cars etc. when I saw an Audi followed by a BMW approach very fast and then sit on my boot about 3 m away. The touch-the-brakes-trick caused chaos - audi braked hard and skidded, the BMW touched him and they both skidded across the carriageway. Fortunately no one was hit and there wasn't an accident - I sat in the outside lane at the same speed when they again approached and I pulled over when they were both obviously going to undertake.Bruce Wallis wrote:Putting on your brake lights for a moment can have an interesting effectcereza wrote:I'd like the rear machine guns used on Bonds Aston Martin so that I could get rid of the tail-gaters on the A22 and N125![]()

Re: Toll free motoring solution
I hope that has KPMs on the A-22 and not MPH on the A449!
Re: Toll free motoring solution
On any road at speed, the brake light trick is an irresponsible and dangerous game to play.

Just let them pass, why not? If they're in a hurry to meet their maker let them get on with it.
When it really gets up my nose is when there's no way they're going to be able to pass & they're still sitting on your boot. I feel like stopping, getting out, opening the boot & saying "get in why don't you?!".

As dangerous as someone sitting on your boot, well, well below the "2 second stopping rule" ? The law is quite clear in both Portugal and the majority of countries in the world - if you hit someone in the rear its your fault for being too close.frank wrote:On any road at speed, the brake light trick is an irresponsible and dangerous game to play.

Re: Toll free motoring solution
When the congestion charge was in introduced to London, tins of aerosol spray were available on the net that when applied to the reg, plate it would be a blur to the cameras picking up the number plate. I think you can still buy them but cameras nowadays are so advanced they will now detect and record the nameplates.
I was tempted years ago to buy this spray an avoid the charge., But avoiding £8 may result in a fine of hundreds, with a criminal record and points on a licence. Not worth it just to save eight quid!

I have to do the odd trip to Sytchampton school and I really don't like having to pull onto the A449 with a minibus load of Y4 kids! No cameras on that stretch.maccasa wrote:Definitely not - too many cameras - I reserve that speed for going through Cutnall Greenlaserblazer wrote:I hope that has KPMs on the A-22 and not MPH on the A449!![]()
Re: Toll free motoring solution
Why anyone interested in A22 toll charges should be concerned with with peoples comments about U.K. driving beats me.
Re: Toll free motoring solution
I use my side lights. and watch them fade away.Bruce Wallis wrote:Putting on your brake lights for a moment can have an interesting effectcereza wrote:I'd like the rear machine guns used on Bonds Aston Martin so that I could get rid of the tail-gaters on the A22 and N125![]()
