Portuguese Long Term Rental Contract Template?

Hello

We are potentially renting our property out long term. I have a UK version I could adapt, but from what I understand Portuguese contracts normally say 5 year period/1 month notice even though the agreed period may alot less (e.g. 1 year).

Can anyone confirm whether this is the case or even provide a template please? (obviously will not hold anyone to any advice given!:)

Get a good lawyer. We have friends who let to a Portuguese family and are having one helluva job to get rid of them or to get any rent from them.

Any form of DIY method, regarding long term letting in Portugal will inevitably end in tears.

Extremely good solid advice given here. What may seem legal on a written contract may be worthless unless properly drawn up by a lawyer.In the 1980s many people in the UK would not let their properties as tenants could have right to stay and pay no rent. When the Shorthold Assured Tenancy laws were introduced tenants had rights but when the lease ended they had to leave if not renewed.

Best to pay a bit more for legal advice which in the long run will save a lot of money and heartache. Good luck, Ken.
