German Family looks for al Villa (to rent) in Summer 2014

We are a german family, 2 adult & 2 children (non-smoker) and we are looking for a Villa to rent in the summer 2014 (next year).
This are our wishes:
- Villa with private pool
- 2 or 3 bedrooms
- moskito-net at the windows of the bedrooms
- Price: 700 - 850 € / week
- date: 26.7.2014 - 9.8.2014 or 2.8.2014 - 16.8.2014

If you can find a villa with those requirements for that price in August then things will have really gone down the drain in Portugal! Our villa on QdP, advertised on this site ticks all your boxes except the price!

That is peak summer holiday time so unless there is something wrong with a property, or its location, most people can fill those weeks at far higher prices, and would probably only consider such a drastic reduction for a very last minute booking or cancellation?

maybe as all our properties are only worth half of what they were a few years ago it's only fair to charge the punters less

Interesting idea sunman. It might catch on if all our utility suppliers, maintenance staff & lenders would adopt the same approach ! In the meantime the old conundrum of "at what price is it uneconomical to rent my villa" baffles many owners. I have concluded that selling only the peak weeks in June, July & August at premium rates makes sense for our property. That leaves the best months of the year free for us & our friends & family to enjoy the beautiful Algarve. As for property prices halving, that sounds a bit pessimistic although I do expect them to continue to fall for the foreseeable future so I guess we may get to that point eventually. As I have no desire to sell and enjoy ownership so much it really doesn't matter - as the Irish would say "It's Imemorial" !

Hold on Klaus64 for the rent you suggest you might just be able to buy the Country in 2014!!

it would have to be last minute, ie a month before. There was someone wanting a villa for £500 with pool, AC and so forth and apparently they found one in Sesmarias. Certainly any of the popular ones start to get bookings June- August about this time of year. like to say Best of British. See post below

Please can anyone help, daughter and boyfriend looking for a 2 bed villa to rent from 6th July for two weeks, anywhere within a 30-40 minute max drive from Carvoeiro. Short notice I know!!

They don't mind what size but would like air con and private pool or terrace ( I know not asking for much) budget of £500 per week.
