Ryanair

Post by VON VON »

Well they have done it again more money out of us, have just checked in on line for a flight from uk on 17 april free allocated seats all lovely jubly. But cannot check in for coming home on 27th until the 20th unless we pay to book out seats which is either £20 or £30, which just adds to the cost of the flights, lucky enough we have friends with a printer so can do it on the 20th at no extra cost. BUT what about clients who will not be able to do this it just adds to the cost of their holiday. Anyone else experienced this yet?

What!! that's absolutely disgusting, fancy not having a printer!. If its any consolation Monarch have been doing a similar thing - you can check in online, but you have to book a seat (standard one was 10.99) for my return flight last week. Otherwise you have to stand in line to check in and get a seat allocated, even if you only have hand luggage. It backfired on them though, we were delayed getting to the airport and arrived with 50 mins to go - no-one waiting in the queue and we got allocated 5B and C which were the extra leg room ones.

Would have been ideal had we not been delayed over 12hrs! and then had to fly back to EMA as BHX had shut by then - nightmare - got back home at 05.30 eventually

I believe that you can use a printer in the Internet cafe in the shopping complex opposite Mungos. Well this info is over 1 year old, so hopefully others can confirm or otherwise.

I think we will just have to get a cheap wireless printer i begrudge giving any more money to Ryanair other than for a basic flight price.

you can check in for the return journey from about 14th onwards, no problem. Ryanair allow 15 days before flights so 14th/15th/16th is well within the time range. Not as flexible as EJ but not a problem either.

where do you get the info that you could not check in until 20th, clearly states on RY website 15 days? (or another case of knocking Ryanair for being Ryanair ?)

I think you are rather cheeky joeysoap NO it is not a case of knocking ryanair because they are ryanair at all, and yes they do have that on their website and this was correct until they decided to do free allocated seating, yesterday i checked in on line for outgoing flight which went ok, BUT the return flight there was a message to say if i wanted the free allocated seating i would not be able to check in on line until 20th which is 7 days before departure date. BUT also if i did want to check in on line before that date then yes i could choose my seat and pay the amount stated. It obviously has only just changed so unless you are flying very soon you would not know.

As quoted from their website the following

Online Check-In & Boarding Pass Reprinting

We've now got allocated seating

Advance online check-in - (30 days to 8 days before each flight) is only available to customers who select to purchase an allocated seat

General Allocated Seats - Customers who don't wish to pay for an allocated seat can check-in online between 7 days to 2 hours prior to each flight and will be allocated a seat

Hi Von Von,

Obviously they have changed their check in policy without updating their website. I see on a different forum another person has the same problem.
I stand corrected, we live and learn. Not very clear from Ryanair website, and now my turn to knock them.

:) :) :)

There is an internet cafe near Mungos , think he charged us €1 last year for using the internet and printing out boarding passes.

I don't know if it's possible with Ryanair but with Easyjet you can have your boarding pass sent to a smartphone avoiding the need to print it off. This might be an alternative for you if Ryanair have that facility.
