Christmas flights Ryanair

Post by VON VON »

I know its early but obviously not earlier enough to book flights for the 27 Dec with Ryanair as that date is all booked up, I called them up to have this confirmed as initially thought they didn't fly on 27th so have had to book for 28th Dec. thats from Stansted to Faro. You would think at this time of year they would put on a couple of extra flights at least. Anyone else have a problem?

Sidetracking slightly, RA flights from Birmingham only go to October. Any idea when the winter ones are released?

We have our flights booked for 30 December to 11 January. It was too expensive 26-29 December from Gatwick. Equally too expensive 2-5 January. We have Monarch and Easyjet. Easyjet released their winter flights very early so we didn't get in for a couple of weeks waiting to find out what the kids wanted to do. :D

They used to stop for 3 months over the winter period from Bournemouth. First flights out Feb. Last year they stopped early November and didn't restart to April. This year they finish late October - so that's only 6 months service. Don't know when/if they will restart. Looks like we will have to go further afield for our flights, but at least that will give us more choice of airlines.
They started a service Faro-Lisbon recently and cancelled it after 3 days of operating.
Not what I consider reliable customer service.

A few yrs ago a close friend bought a place about 1.5 hrs from Alicante and was delighted to find that RYA, Monarch and easy jet started to do really cheapo flts into Murcia airport - great little place only has planes in the morning as its a military facility. small, cosy, no parking fees, easy to get to etc etc. Guess what happened around 2009??? - there's only monarch now as easy jet don't fly from BHX or EMA and the prices have gone way up. Have to use Alicante now and that's a nightmare place!

What's going on? I just went to book some Ryanair flights for early next year and they have disappeared. They were there yesterday!

They're back again and I've booked for March. Can anyone confirm this cabin baggage statement please?
One cabin bag per passenger* weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, plus 1 small bag up to 35 x 20 x 20 cms.

I wasn't aware that you can take another small bag.

When this was first introduced it did rlate to a carrier bag which was purchased through airport shopping - after security. When we were at the airport a couple of weeks ago there was a new smaller cage obviously for these smaller bags such as handbags etc - they cannot be put in the overhead lockers and have to be put at your feet.

If the flight is busy they will only allow some of the larger bags (upto 90) into the cabin. The rest will be put in the hold free of charge. Don't think this won't happen. We were on one busy flight and as there was allocated seating & we had small backpacks we got last. A number of people ahead of us had their large cabin bags taken off them. So make sure you have anything you need during the flight in the smaller bag, and be prepared that you have have large bag put in hold with subsequent delay at bag collection. They seem to be selecting the hard suitcases as large soft bags can usually be squashed under the seat.
