Cost of replacing a pool cover

Post by guest too »

Does anyone have a ball-park figure for the cost of a “bubble wrap” type pool cover for a 4.5M X 9M pool?

I would think you could cover most of the Algarve in bubble wrap for 750 euros http://www.ekmpowershop.com/ekmps/shops ... oductid=65

Pool Cover

Have you thought about a solar safe pool cover. They give more increase in temp than a bubble, and extend your season longer.

Who me?

Just been looking at US sites. A pukka solar panel system costs $1500 and a bubble cover $100.

Ok everyone its not just BUBBLE WRAP OK!

Post by Jaccuzzi Tom »

We are discussing a durable Solar cover consisting of heat retaining air pockets. Now if anyone out there wants just a plain blue NON SOLAR cover they can aquire them for pennies however to get a SOLAR COVER with a 2 year gaurantee your talking a few hundred ok!
Just so everybody realises this is specialised equipment :D

Pool covers

Realy! People should compare like for like. The "Solar Cover" on the US site, is just a piece of thin plastic. The solar panels would need a cover anyway to insulate during the day, and at night. I suggest before firing off on this forum, individuals take a little professional advice.

I would suggest you ask a local villa manager - they usually have experience with all sorts of different products their houseowners decided to buy. :)

Thank you all (well nearly all!) for your input.
I have finally decided (you may think bizarrely) to buy a replacement cover in the UK from Poolstore (UK) Ltd (www.poolstore.co.uk). A 500 micron “Blue/Gold” solar cover with a 4 year warranty for £191! Even with shipping of £105 and the couple of hours it will take me to fit the cover, this still works out considerably cheaper than the €750/€830 I was being quoted in the CVO area for a standard cover with, at best, a two-year warranty. Quite out of character for me, I’m feeling a little guilty at not doing the business locally but, to be frank, the local market seems to me to be something of a rip-off.
Couldn’t recommend Poolstore highly enough – a real pleasure to deal with - even recommended the shipper who operates from the same trading estate as them and who knows their covers and what’s involved in getting them shipped.
