Borehole pumps

Not purchased one of these before. I've no idea how to rate them. Presumably depends on hole depth, but I don't know what pumping rate I need. This, I suppose, depends on the size of the tank it is pumping into.

Any advice?

I'm not sure, since hydraulics is a bit vague in my memory, but I suppose that pump capacity will be dependent upon head of water and diameter of pipe. I would imagine that you could have something like an electronic ball cock that would cut off the pump activity whenever the tank was full

yehbut,
I suppose you need to size the pump and tank so that you don't run out when using water at a normal rate + some factor. Also, the water needs to stay in the tank for some time to settle out bugs.
Which reminds me, I need also to sort out water filters so it won't kill us. I think I can only do that after we have some pumped up? I know ceramic filters are sold, also UV ones, don't know how much power they use.

Forgot to say, not quite electronic, just a waterproof switch on a ballcock

Is this true? Think of your current domestic cold tank with inflow from the top and exit from the bottom. Where would you hope to install the filters? And do you actually hope to drink the water?. Just buck in a jam jar full of H2O2 now and again

I meant muck not bugs. I think leaving the water lying about for a bit helps with iron oxide levels, which I suspect we have a lot of.

Filters after the tank.

Loads of US sites, they have a lot of properties with wells, too much to read now, bit tired. Will look tomorrow.

A lot depends on the depth of the well ..reckon 120 ft plus should do it ...line it down about 75 to 100 ft down and buy a submersible pump ...run the water till it comes clear...all you,ll need is a small 11 gallon pressure tank
