no buy----and I know what your going to say..it cant be done..however bear in mind that when the donkey sanctuary had their land cut in two by the new motorway,,,the compensation paid by the camara didnt even pay for new fencing...so we have a valuation of land by camaras and another for people who think they have gold mines on their land

Perhaps one of the large development companies with lots of land and dosh, could donate a piece of land to this charity and thereby, increase their popularity and put something back into the community.
Is the land required for the dogs and/or donkeys? Does it need to be able to have permission to erect any small "buildings" on it?

Bruxy,
I think people such as I would willing offer our land, but as you well know having 2 large dogs and living within earshot of several others, noise travels. Therefore, I feel one has to consider firstly your neighbours.
Your idea about the very rich developers out here, supplying an area of land is an extremely good idea. So can we get together as a group and say write a letter to The Algarve Resident for such an appeal!
Nightrider.
Hi Martin,
Yes, take your point about the noise. Grazing donkeys are maybe not too much of a problem but barking dogs are another thing. Nightrider does have a bit of land but her neighbours would kill her I think and obviously upsetting everybody doesn't help the dogs cause either, does it?
You could always have a chat with old Mrs Soares.
I mean having a charity and some accommodation/food for the stray dogs means that there are at least a few less out there wandering around the streets. Having too many stray dogs doesn't do the reputation of Silves and Portugal as a tourist destination any good at all, does it?
I'll keep my ears and eyes open for you and ask about. I hope you can get something sorted soon. I was just thinking that if you have a huge plot of land owned by developers and golf courses, then surely a piece far away from the homes could be used. Just a thought anyway. I'll think on and happy to help with any letter writing etc. Fingers crossed

Dear Guest,
Have you looked into registed Uk based charities, that fund schemes abroad.
Of course the internet is packed with such information and if your not aw
are you can gain a list of registered charities from the Charity Commission in London and also Companies House.
I am sorry if you are already fully aware of the above. But if not hopefully, its of some help. Regards Nightrider.

yes they have tried mrs soares....and many other camaras..the truth of it is that here is no help given to business or charities or churches,,,only developers who want to build apartment blocks.
in uk there is land set aside for say a church,,here nothin......even repocessions by banks is hopeless as they put a price on land that bears no relation to value...and stupidlly can afford (so much for a poor country) and wait years upon years for their "price"...any other country there is a common economic rule supply and demand and the graph meets somewhere in the middle..here there is supply but the demand line is way out of alignment

Yes, I am sure you are right guest. I have knowledge of a piece of bank repossessed land alongside the motorway, which was sold on and has no building permission and the price now asked by the current owner is ridiculous. It's crazy. People are greedy and short-sighted.
I hope we can find someone willing to help with this. There is so much money and land here and all that is wanted is 5000m of old scrub land. I will do what I can anyway.

I know I am only a guest but I am getting intrigued by this thread of a person wanting to buy land for an alleged charity. Lots of forum people are helping with ideas etc., yet "guest" hasn't come forward with his/her name and address, creditials, etc.
Can't a request by made more public through the local papers and media?
