Was out last week and had another fab meal, had friends with me and we all said how great the whole experience was, it was very booked up and we had to wait 3 nights before we got a table, so they must be doing somethig right, roll on 3 weeks tonight

Def open New Years eve, Taste is closing Dec, then opening Jan.

Just back from a 6 night break and I have to say we had another wonderful meal, service etc.

PS. Ladies only bad news is Claudio will not be working.

luckely some things don t change! We arrived last week and the first place we went was here.The food was wonderfull ( my hubby loved the tender black pork ),i had my favourite dish of course( the rack of lamb) perfectly pink meat with a tasty sauce, roasted potatoes and vegetables.hmmmm
The new menu is almost done te chef tld us. It was really nice to see that theresa and claudio where still there. We are staying for a few weeks and will report about the new menu the next time.

They are offering new dishes at A Rede - but when I started a thread no one was interested in the food - they were too busy criticising the surrounding area with its neon lights (which cannot be seen in the restaurant) and Carlos' rather poor and repetitive sense of humour. If you go there often enough he doesn't do his silly stuff as he knows you have seen it all before.

Me - not keen on Ele and Ela. Obviously have no taste!!!

Tried A Rede last weekend and food was just ok, had better. However the service was awful.
Going to stay with Elle & Ella where both are great!

Here I go again, in last Friday, really busy had a friend with me who had never been before, said it was the best Meal she had in ages, and in the Village, the service was great, not rushed not slow just right, she said she wished we had gone on the 1st night so she could have gone twice, looking forward to being back in 3 weeks.......

Maybe it was a bad night or maybe this place is totally over rated. We booked well in advance. I asked for an outside table and we where put on the worst one indoors (view of a brown wall for one of us....I made it clear we where not happy and they eventually moved us to an outside table. There where plenty of tables free outside for the rest of the evening, and it was the last sitting anyway...Why they got the evening off to a bad start for no reason is beyond me....Anyway...the food....Starter. I ordered Roasted Iberico salad....I love Iberico Jamon so thought that a roast pork variant of the same breed might be interesting. This was basically a rotunda of roast, fatty, thinly sliced pork with a foam dressing that was devoid of flavour or seasoning...In the middle of the plate of neatly arranged pork was a pinch of salad leaves and three halfs of a dwarf tomato. Looks 7/10 Taste 0/10.....Ele and Ella please note....dishes that are entitled a Salad should normally contain Salad. Garnish is not salad....even in Michelin star restaurants... without seasoning. fatty pork tastes of, well, fat of course.....A basic issue of the entire Ele and Ella Menu or service is a lack of description and as such you get surprises...I expect to know what i am getting before it arrives.....unless it is a top restaurant...Ele and Ella is not. We did not get asked for Hors d'oeuvres as many have noted they did...maybe they had decided to make our evening a misery after the table standoff ? Final Note on the starters/HD's "Home made Tuna pate" = Tuna Mayo with onion. Main course. My wife ordered the Fish stew served with Rice. I wanted to order the Moroccan lamb shank special, but heard the waiter say it was finished to another table just before I ordered...So revert to Filet steak...Easy to execute for any reasonable restaurant.....The Fish stew (we envisioned a take on Cataplana) was described a simply fish stew served with rice....Instead it was cooked in coconut Milk...not on the description and not offered verbally before or after serving. The rice was a little greasy, soy soaked and contained chopped coriander My wife can't stand 2 things in/on food 1) coconut 2) coriander. She pushed her plate forward...I tasted..tasteless stew with aroma of coconut and greasy rice...My fillet steak was ordered rare and came "medium" = Pink no juice. It was thin for a filet and had gristle....Note Elle and Ella when Paying for a filet I expect Filet and not a random cut disguised under too much sauce...To be fair the sauce tasted very nice....The saute potatoes where few and contained lots of greasy bits like from the bottom of a chip shops last basket of the night...I ask you....by this stage we where really fed up...it was too late to eat anything else and we wanted a sharp exit...We could have stayed and complained but chose to cut and run....The waiter offered to change the stew as he noted that nothing but a taste had gone, but only as he came to collect the plates....Ele and Ella ? Nah not for us thanks....below bog standard....walk before you can run Ele and Ella....utter rubbish for that night....Oh and after all that they brought is the wrong bill....surprised they did not trip us up on the way out.....Lots of great places in Carv to suite all budgets....avoid this whatever your budget.....

My experiences at Ele and Ela on every ocassion over several years have been nothing but positive. The food and service have been exemplary and of all of the restaurants I have tried since 1992 this one is at the top of a very competitive and numerous list.

Do not be put off by the previous post, be led by the vast majority and try this one out, i doubt you will be disapppointed.

Well we had a superb meal and service the other week - we returned there after a 3 year absence - best meal we had over the 11 days. A little more expensive than the normal places we frequent in CVO, but tops!
