I was so happy to stumble on this lovely restraunt!
Exellent service. VERY tasty food! I'm a tricky customer to please and they managed to please me. Give it a bash!

Do you just drive into Palm Gardens, presumably this is behind the apartments and the
tennis courts, I had no idea there was a resturant there. Sounds good.

Pimenta Preta is next to the pool, the entrance is adjacent to the reception. Do try it I am sure you will not be disappointed, we have been several times and have always had a very good meal

My daughter & I ate here, we weren't impressed at all. Flowery menu, a little nouvelle quisine-ish & overly formal for us, they were very quiet & every time you got up from your seat, whether to go out for a cigarette or just to the loo, one of the waiters rushed over to hold your chair for you when you returned, or they just hovered round the table constantly & a very subdued atmosphere when we went. Maybe we just went on a bad night, I think we might give it another go after patti's recommendation, they do have a very nice terrace overlooking the pool & the restaurant is nicely decorated.

Dyou know Blue..we last had that at A Galerea(is that splt right?) just up rua do farol on the right......

Pat's still there though Jo the other lovely blonde lady has gone, a scottish lassie called Sharon works there now & Angie who used to work at Oasis restaurant across the road as well as one or 2 other bar staff all really nice. We have been known to have a bevvy or 3 in there every now & then.

Had a lovely meal here last week, on par with Bon Bon and L'Orange, service perfect and a lovely selection of wines at sensible prices. Maybe not for those looking for a cheap and cheerful night but perfect for a treat, special birthday or Anniversary.

In my opinion this is the only remotely interesting restaurant in Carvoeiro from the point of view of anyone who has more that a passing interest in food. I go there often and although some dishes fall short of the mark what I like about it is that the chef is always innovating, trying new techniques and ingredients etc. We have had some really wow dishes there that could be served at restaurants twice the price. They have just introduced a completely new menu, the squid ink risotto is to die for and a had a lovely pigeon starter. The only thing I don't like is the white glove service that is a bit over the top and old fashioned.
One dish that stays on the menu is chef Pedro's delectable chocolate fondant.

Personally I can't afford to pay 40 euros a head for a meal (except on special occasions) especially when I'm paying for 2 people for a 3 week stay. We ate out every day, either lunch or dinner, and enjoyed practically every meal at an average of 15 - 20 euros p.p.

If I owned Pimenta Preta, I would be offended to be compared to l'Orange......

We went to Pimenta Preta with friends last night, and had an excellent meal.
Pretentious?? Yes.
Expensive? Yes....200 euros for 4 of us, drinking only the house wines.

It's very much fine dining.....special occasion stuff, but it's good.

As good again over Elle&Ela, as Elle&Ela, is over the other restaurants in Carvoeiro.

Not an every day eatery, but if you have a special day, birthday or anniversary, I'd recommend you try Pimenta Preta.

I would second that opinion Bruce, and we very much enjoyed our dinner with you and Julia. The filet of beef that I had was the best that I have ever eaten. Definately a must go for special occassion.
